DARE Update Training for certified DARE Officers

New DARE K-12 Opioid and OTC/Rx Drug Awareness Prevention Curricula, A Comprehensive Curricula for your Community’s Children

Open to DARE Officers, successful completion of this training will enable you to teach the new DARE K-12 Opioid and OTC/Rx Drug Awareness Prevention Curricula and will provide you with FREE Instructor’s Manual and access to handouts.

Prescription and over-the-counter medicines are typically accessible and visible in homes and children and teens should understand safe and responsible practices associated with medicines. This training provides officers with updated K-8 DARE Rx and OTC Abuse lessons, including aresearched-based online module on “Opioids”. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of the four elementary lessons, two middle school lessons ways to connect with parents and resources. An executive summary of the lessons will be available to assist DO in their discussion with teachers and administrators.

Every day, more than 90 Americans die after overdosing on opioids. The misuse of and addiction to opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin and synthetic opioids —is a serious national crisis. Help your community in its efforts to combat this epidemic with high school lessons and community presentations. Participants will examine and will be certified to teach two new lessons on Opioid/Heroin Epidemic for high school students along with a parent presentation.
