YAB Application

Youth Advisory Board Recommendation
Dear DARE Officer,
Thank you in advance for taking the time to recommend a student for participation in DARE America YAB.  Please review the criteria and requirements below. In addition to the criteria below, we are requiring that the recommending DARE Officer agrees to mentor the student during his/her time as a YAB and will provide guidance to the student in completing leadership projects at the state and national levels.    
Student must meet qualifications to apply.

  1. Be a freshman and no older than a sophomore in high school at time of selection
  2. Willing to serve for at least 2 years
  3. Graduate of either the elementary, middle, or high school D.A.R.E. program.
  4. Have history of demonstrated academic achievement and community involvement
  5. Articulate and comfortable with public speaking
  6. Lead a lifestyle consistent with the goals and objectives of D.A.R.E.

Student must fill out the YAB Application. Application due December 1st. YAB Application may be found on DARE America website.

Student must provide a recommendation/nomination letter from any of the following:

  1. D.A.R.E. officer
  2. School official (school official such as principal, school counselor, teacher)
  3. D.A.R.E. Officer Association Officer
  4. State training administrator

Student must send a resume or a copy of the DA completed application to NYSDOA Directors at nysdoa@yahoo.com no later than November 11th for consideration.
