The Purpose of this Course:
To provide trainees the opportunity to gain their Municipal Police Training Council (MPTC) for the Instructor Development Course.
This course utilizes the MPTC Instructor Development Course Instructor Guide, the Student Manual, and the students are presented the topics covered in the IDC over three days. Besides the classroom learning, each student is required to write and present a fifty-minute presentation. The presentation is on subject matter that is different from that the student learned in their previous instructor training.
There is a prerequisite for this course and trainees must have successfully completed a two-week D.A.R.E. Officer Training Course per MPTC.
All registered trainees will need to provide a copy of their D.A.R.E. Officer Training Certificate (DOT) from NYS DCJS to the course director. The course director will need approval from NYS DCJS that the trainee successfully completed DOT training. If a trainee received DOT outside NYS the course director will need a copy of the trainee’s certificate that was received.
The IDC Conversion Course requires a fifty-minute presentation. Students are required to have a laptop computer with Powerpoint (Windows or Apple). Students will have to provide the course director a copy of their presentation and lesson plan.
